This is the story of Dr. Alex Vincent, a brilliant scientist and code breaker who gets simultaneously entangled in trying to avert a potential national catastrophe, while at the same time he has to deal with a serious personal crisis; he has to protect his son from his estranged ex-wife and her murderous cabal, the Saints of Seven. Father and son go on the lam with the help of the Lollypop underground railroad that helps children at risk. They are chased by government agents, corrupt police and minions of the cabal. = No spoilers here=

The writer, deftly and with a light touch, injects religious faith and belief in God into the narrative. The atheist scientist, Dr. Vincent, is exposed to potentially insurmountable situations that somehow get resolved with the help of kind and generous people of faith, and an unseen power. By the end of his odyssey he becomes a believer.

If you like a fast paced thriller with clever twists and turns, on top of an intriguing subplot, which are neatly knitted together into a credible culmination, then this book is for you.

Fugitive Father Robert C Mowry 9780615929637 Books Reviews

Fugitive Father was an intriguing novel. There was so much going on. Alex Vincent had an awful lot on his plate. While working on a team that was trying to break a computer code from a terrorist that would lead them to the location of a threatened bio-terrorist attack, he receives a cry for help from his son, who fears for his life. Alex felt he needed to get custody of Tucker to keep him safe from his wife who had become involved in a cult, but couldn't do it legally as she appeared to be the perfect mother. Risking everything, he joins the Lollypop Railroad, an underground system set up to save endangered children that the law can't protect.

I found Fugitive Father to be a fast-paced, modern novel with spiritual elements. Alex starts out as a devout atheist, but through his adventures he begins to question his beliefs. Many of the people he comes into contact with believe in God and rely on Him to help them keep these people safe.

I thought that Tucker behaved a bit young for a twelve year old. Once I finished reading the book, I was sure that he was only eight, but when I went back, I realized that he was actually twelve. However, I was delighted that Tucker and his dad developed a closeness in their relationship that they didn't have before.

I also enjoyed the possible budding romance in the novel. If there is a sequel to Fugitive Father perhaps we'll see more of that.

I give high accolades to the author for clean language and no scenes that have to be screened for sensitive readers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Fugitive Father was an excellent read and I would highly recommend it to all those who enjoy thrillers. I gave this book 5 stars out of 5.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. A positive opinion was not required. All thoughts are my own.
This is an excellent read. From the very beginning I was intrigued by each and every character I got to know. I thought the father/ son relationship was portrayed as how many current families, of divorced parents, live. One parent works too much, and the child feels lost. Very relateable. To see their relationship blossom through all the hard times and experiences they shared, was really inspirational.
I also liked how Dr. Vincent was constantly questioning and learning from others, about their strong beliefs in God. It didn't push too much religion on the reader, but definitely gave you something to think about!
I was extremely impressed with the way that the author was able to bring in all these different law enforcement agencies, who seemed to all have their own agenda's, and still make the story flow so effortlessly . Some of the situations portrayed in Mexico and along the borders in the states, as far as drug smuggling, illegal immigrants, are all real life things we deal with, here in the border states, and each cirucumstance was exciting.
It was very believeable. It was fast paced, and kept me wanting more. Just when I thought I had certain aspects of the book figured out, a surprise twist, or murder would take place, that would just send me reeling again.
I would love to see more about some of these great characters, a follow up on Dr. Vincent and Maria would be excellent. This book screams "series".
I would highly recommend this book to a very wide range of readers. I already have my husband starting it, and I already have another book from this author called "smoking springs" that I will start next.
As a work exploring the relationship between a father and his son brought together through unusual circumstances this works well. I thought however the surrounding story was weak, without giving away too much of the plot at the very beginning a code is discovered on am murdered man at this point everyone including the USA President wants it decoded urgently. However no background or really substantive reason is given for this. The rest of the book works well with the characters well described the son comes across particularly well as a young sounding 12 year old.
The end comes as an anti-climax as when the true villain of the story is revealed and all is well again there was no way of working out who did it from the clues given in fact this villain only makes an early appearance and then returns at the end so things can be closed out and giving a happy ending, well at least for the father and his son.
A lot of good stuff here with relationships explored and a bit of religion thrown in. I liked it but thought it tried to cover too much.
Mysteries, conspiracies, crazy people, good people, family--this book has it all. One thing not in here is profanity headquartered can write.
I'm currently reading mystery novels from author's I've never read before. Trying to get away from the norm. What I want to know is when does the movie start it's filming. Great read!
